New Asia Pacific Consultant Appointed
Solus are delighted to welcome Philip Mugg into our team. Due to our continued success and growth in the Asia Pacific region, Philip has joined us as a consultant. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Philip gained Australian Society for Microbiology Member status in 1987. Since then he’s gained 40 years of experience in Microbiology, including Clinical Microbiology (Bacteriology, Virology, Public Health) and Food Microbiology. He’s been involved in the development of innovative pathogen detection and identification tests. He’s also spent considerable time introducing them into testing facilities across South East Asia.
His experience of working as a consultant to the World Health Organisation in China and as Regional Business Manager in the Asia Pacific region certainly stands him in good stead for working with Solus and our customers as we continue to expand in this region.
After moving to the UK in 2001, Philip accepted the role of Technical Sales and Marketing Manager for Microgen Bioproducts. He eventually became the Technical Director and appointment to the Board of Directors followed in 2009. However, the sunnier climes of Australia ultimately tempted him back.
In 2018, he established his own consultancy business, PM Diagnostics Consulting. Now Philip specialises in assisting international companies in the production of ready prepared culture media, sales and marketing and working with laboratories on the development of automated laboratory systems, particularly in food testing.
We recently welcomed Philip in person at our main site in Mansfield where he underwent a thorough training program. During the week he became fully proficient in all of the Solus assays and automation that we currently offer. Armed with this new knowledge he returned to Australia where he’ll provide technical support to our distributors in the area.
