Technology Advantages

The Solus™ assays compete directly with the established microbiological testing methods. Current microbiological testing technologies are slow and relatively complicated with most testing in the food industry falling into 3 categories:

  1. Traditional culture methods typically taking 5-7 days
  2. ELISA tests typically taking 40-50+ hours
  3. PCR tests typically taking ~16 -20 hours for specific food matrices

The main advantages of the Solus method can be summarised as follows:

  • speed of test (including enrichment) significantly reduced
  • accuracy at least as good as ELISA or PCR
  • cost equal or less than ELISA and substantially less expensive than PCR
  • only one stage of enrichment and simplified assay procedures in lab
  • reduced lab handling and mixing of enrichment media products
  • testing procedure similar to ELISA - minimal staff training required
  • assay fully compatible with automatic ELISA testing systems, save for a luminometer replacing the colourimeter at the reading stage
  • Solus flash chemiluminescence is 300x more sensitive than ELISA colourmetic systems
